Honfleur is located at south of the estuary of the Seine, in front of Le Havre. It is known for its old picturesque port, surrounded of covered slate houses. It was often represented by artists, among them Gustave Courbet, Eugene Boudin, Claude Monet and Johan Barthold Jongkind, who formed the School of Honfleur which contributed to the appearance of the impressionist movement.
